The Traverse City Beach Bums owned by the Wurerfel family, is a pro baseball team located in TC MI. The Beach Bums team is a member of the E Division of the Frontier League, a non affiliate semi pro baseball team. Wuerfel Park is where the “bums” play their home games. Wuerfel Park is located near Chums Corner, almost straight across from Culvers on US 31.

Averaging over two hundred thousand visitors per season for games at Wuerfel park, the Beach Bums have some of the most loyal and rabid fans in the entire league. In their first three seasons, the Beach Bums have drawn over 600,000 fans with a mix of loyal, local fans, tourists, and regional baseball fans. Many local families play house parents to the team members throughout the season. The current managing members of the TC Beach Bums are John and Leslye Wuerfel. Jason, their son is the VP and Director of Baseball Operations. During his four years at The University of Michigan… GO BLUE!– Jason lettered four times. In ’03 Jason earned the Wolverine Award for Spirit and Leadership.
